莊嚴極緻的不朽神劇《彌賽亞》

格奧爾格·弗里德里希·韓德爾（Georg Friedrich Händel，1685年2月23日－1759年4月14日）出生於德國。

他的父親從小不准他接觸音樂，堅持要讓他學習法律。但他六歲時，卻無意間發現家中的古綱琴，且趁晚上偷偷練習。七歲時和父親一起去薩克森公爵的宮廷，被公爵賞識，要求讓他接受正統的音樂教育。1702年，他成為為哈雷教堂的管風琴師，也遵從父親遺願修讀法律系，兼為教堂譜寫每個禮拜天的彌撒曲。

《彌賽亞》是韓德爾於五十六歲時，正處於音樂事業低潮時譜寫完成的，於1742年4月13日在愛爾蘭首府都柏林首演。當時報章上寫著：「最具權威的評論家認為它是最出色的音樂作品，座無虛席的聽眾，滿心的讚賞，卻無法以言語形容它所帶來的微妙喜悅，藉著最高雅、莊嚴、動人的字句宣敘出來的崇高、宏偉、溫柔，使每一個陶醉在音樂之中的心靈和耳朵心曠神怡，深受感動。韓德爾先生將此次偉大演出的收益，交由囚犯救助協會、慈善療養院、麥瑟醫院均分，他的姓名將永受感懷。」

「彌賽亞」是「救世主」的意思。

《彌賽亞》的歌詞引用欽定版本(KJV) 的新舊約經文，敘述耶穌的出生、行事、受難、受死及復活。

全曲分成三個部分：

第一部分：耶穌降臨的預言和祂的誕生

第二部分：救贖的信息和耶穌為全人類的犧牲

第三部分：耶穌的復活和最終的審判

作品內每一首曲子都有其精妙之處，唯最後的 哈利路亞大合唱Hallelujah Chorus，是最廣為傳頌、世界矚目的一段。現將全曲歌詞記在下面，供大家欣賞或靈修默想之用。
